Crocheted Beanie with "R" Emblem
Here's your Team Rocket beanie pattern - perfect for any aspiring Pokemon villain!
Materials Needed:
- White worsted weight yarn (#4) - ~200 yards
- Red yarn (R emblem) - ~30 yards
- Black yarn (optional trim) - ~20 yards
- 5.0mm (H/8) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
Gauge (Important!):
14 sc x 16 rows = 4" (10cm)
Check your gauge! If too loose, go down a hook size. Too tight, go up.
Hat should have 1-2" negative ease (smaller than head) for snug fit.
Sizing:
Adult (20-22" head): Follow pattern as written
Teen (19-20"): Stop increases at Rnd 6 (72 sts)
Child (18-19"): Stop increases at Rnd 5 (60 sts)

Fasten off, weave in ends.
RED "R" EMBLEM
Based on Hookok Letter R Pattern - adapted for Team Rocket.
Step 1 - Main Stem (Red):
Ch 19.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across (18)
Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc across (18)
Row 3: ch 1, turn, sc across (18)
Fasten off.
Step 2 - Curved Top:
Join red yarn, skip 9 sts, ch 12.
Skip 5, sl st 2.
In chain: 2 sc, inc, sc, hdc, inc x2, sc, inc, 2 sc
Skip 1, sl st 2, 5 sc, inc x5, 5 sc, sl st.
Step 3 - Diagonal Leg:
Ch 9, connect with 2 sl st.
In chain: 8 sc, inc, turn
Ch 1, 10 sc, sl st 2, turn
9 sc, inc. Fasten off.
Sew onto front center of beanie, about 2" above brim.
Easier Alternative:
Cut an "R" from red felt (about 3" tall) and use fabric glue or hand-stitch it on.

OPTIONAL: BLACK TRIM
Join black yarn at brim ridge (Rnd 31).
Sl st around the ridge for a clean black line.
Or: Add 2 rounds of black sc at very bottom of brim.
Pro Tips:
- Use stitch markers to track round beginnings
- Try on as you go to check fit before the brim
- For a cleaner "R", use felt and fabric glue instead of crochet
- Block the R pieces flat before sewing for best results
- The diagonal "kick" of the R should angle down-right at ~45°
